Pamela and Davie Tait
7 August 1999
Powfowlis Manor Hotel near Falkirk, Scotland
My husband Davie Tait and I were married on 7 August 1999 at the Powfowlis
Manor Hotel near Falkirk in Scotland. We are both Scottish and loved the thought
of having a very Scottish wedding. I had the idea for my dress in my head and went
along to a lady who is a designer and dressmaker in Fife, Scotland and described
my idea to her. She sketched it for me and then made up the dress. The tartan is
Ancient Buchanan and the reason I chose it was simply because she suggested it would go with my colouring. My husband's tartan is Black Watch. We exchanged
Celtic wedding rings and I gave out floral arrangements to my principal female guests finished off with a ribbon in the same tartan as my dress. My husband is a
semi-professional musician and our wedding reception was one of the best nights of our lives as our friends provided the music. We had three different bands to
entertain our guests, one of which was made up of my brother on bagpipes, my husband on guitar and his nephew on didgiridoo (which he had acquired on a tour
of Oz), that was something to see and hear! The following day we headed to Ireland
for our honeymoon in search of more fine music and the "craic".
